Judge Newman issued an arrest warrant August 9 for rapper Tyga, whose real name is Michael Ray Stevenson, and set bail at $10,000 after Tyga did not show up in court. As Daniel Abir, managing partner of ACTS LAW, LLC, told USA Today Tuesday, Tyga owes nearly $500,000 to Malibu landlord Gholamreza Rezai, who rented his mansion to the rapper in 2011.
ACTS LAW, LLC represents the landlord and secured a judgment against Tyga in 2012 for $480,285. In addition to skipping out on his lease, Tyga vandalized the landlord’s property. As ACTS LAW, LLC attorney Boris Treyzon told the LA Times, Tyga “leased a house that he wanted to use as his primary residence, then he completely trashed it.”
Tyga, who was also ordered to pay the landlord’s legal fees, claims to be poverty-stricken and has failed to pay the outstanding judgment. While the rapper failed to appear in court to settle the truth about his assets, his girlfriend Kylie Jenner posted a photo of a new $189,000 Maybach on Instagram and tagged the car as a gift from Tyga. As part of the Kardashian family, it is unlikely that Jenner needs Tyga’s money to buy such an expensive car, but ACTS LAW, LLC advise her not to get too attached.
“Kylie shouldn’t get too comfortable in her new car; it’s unlikely to be hers much longer,” Danny Abir told USA Today Tuesday. “He’s been dodging everything, evading service and pleading poverty. And he owes money to others, too.”
With offices in Los Angeles and Santa Ana, the law firm of ACTS LAW, LLC represents landlords like Rezai as well as plaintiffs in complex litigation cases involving bad faith insurance claims and catastrophic personal injury.
