Boris Treyzon, an ACTS Law founding partner, was selected by the Daily Journal as a 2023 Top 100 Lawyer in California by the publication.
Throughout his career, Mr. Treyzon obtained a series of amazing verdicts, settlements, and awards for his clients. Over the last 18 months, he obtained more than $100 million dollars in verdicts and settlements in some of the most complex cases and trials in the nation. His accomplishments were so impressive that he was named as CAALA’s Trial Lawyer of the Year.
The Daily Journal’s Top 100 Lawyers in California recognition is a highly distinguished and sought after honor amongst many within the legal realm. It notably honors trailblazing attorneys that have led significant results with real change for their clients or the public.
Some of Mr. Treyzon’s recent significant results stem from two separate cases involving the Alliance of American Football (AAF). In a class action AAF settlement Treyzon obtained $73 million on behalf of hundreds of former players. The parties agreed that the Estate of the Alliance of American Football was to pay the remainder of the players’ contract: the final two payments of the 2019 season and the final two years of the three-year contract in full. Some class members were stuck in hospitals with injuries, unable to deal with their medical bills. Others were stranded in cities without their promised compensation. The lawsuit cited breach of contract, failure to pay wages and other employment-related issues. The settlement and engagement have been approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
In a $53 million AAF Judgement Mr. Treyzon and his team obtained a landmark judgment by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The decision mandates a restitution of $53,189,261.80 to the Trustee of Alliance of American Football (AAF), in addition to a global forfeiture of $740,000,000. The landmark decision followed an exhaustive pursuit of justice, which began in 2019 after the abrupt shutdown of the AAF. Boris and his team were able to prove that, despite the AAF being in bankruptcy, it was a direct victim of illicit funding by Reggie Fowler, former minority owner of the Minnesota Vikings.
Mr. Treyzon is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) where he regularly presents and shares advanced trial skills to other lawyers. He is also a member of Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), American Association for Justice (AAJ), Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) and a Public Justice member.
This continues to be a historic year for the firm. So far, the firm has obtained more than $165 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of the firm. Best Lawyers recognized these six attorneys for their accomplishments on behalf of clients and for their leadership within the legal community.
